Notes from a commute

Would you rather drop a commuter at at "pick up and drop off," or (what I think of as Canadian, since I saw it in Toronto (Yes, I went to Toronto. No, I didn't have it removed.)) "kiss and ride"?

I still don't understand how having the current president stumping for so many candidates nationwide would (a) help the candidates, or (b) give him time to govern the country. Is someone really going to vote for someone because the president, working only on the party line, says he supports this person? It's like celebrity endorsements of food products, but worse, since he's trying to stack the deck in his favor, as it were. On second thought, perhaps it's better without (b)?

Day of the Dead

Cthulhia's party Friday night was a lot of fun. More LJ (and non-LJ) friends than I could shake a stick at, as it were. I enjoyed lounging on the clouds again; they seem to foster interesting conversation. Or perhaps I am just lucky enough to have interesting friends?

The other decorations were fun, the flags (?) strung across the ceilings, the usual interesting-colored-light-pattern thing on the front porch.

Swirls of conversation, the ebb and flow of chat. Games sprouting up, Euchre in the dim light of the front porch. (Don't feel like a listing of talk with who about what sort of paragraph; suffice to say I was glad to see people and talk with them....)

I was pleased to see people eating my first attempt at Dead Bread (luckily not attempted in rainbow colors...), and got to compare notes about another recipe. Definitely a festive sort of bread, with all the butter and eggs. I was pleased to find that the orange zest and orange flower water balanced the anise in a way that made it taste good to me, rather than just licorice.
