aka, orange edition dinner (all produce from the farm share or farmers market, except the dried coconut)
In addition to the soup and the turkey breasts, here's the fate of the bird from Trader Joe's:
1. the turkey thighs, tail, and first joint wing (the 'drumstick') were baked over six-grain-and-pumkin-seed bread bits, with onion, mushroom, walnut, and diced apple (but unfortunately not sage)
2. the turkey drumsticks and second joint wings were baked with a bit of red onion, and a dry rub of cayenne, cumin, cinnamon, and sugar
3. the little bits that happen because I am not expert at carving a raw bird I marinated in a soy-Burgundy marinade (commercial), then sauteed with onion, lacinato kale, and diced mushroom (yummy breakfast!)
- challah rolls, grape juice
- turkey soup with carrots, sweet potato, celeriac, and leek
- turkey breasts slow-baked with spicy peach salsa, over a mixture of red onions, sweet potatoes, dried yellow plum bits, and unsweetened dried coconut
- roasted turnip with red onion
- butternut squash kugel with cumin, cayenne, and ginger
(not made because guests were earlier than anticipated, and thought there was plenty of food anyway: green salad) - dessert from guest: gluten-free (unbaked?) vegan pumpkin pie with coconut
- mandarins
