Farm share, week 15
Sep. 21st, 2022 08:04 pm- three pounds of sweet potatoes
- two pounds of carrots
- two-thirds of a pound of golden 'lunchbox' peppers
- six large green peppers (I chose long over bell shape)
- a pound of mixed salad greens (I swapped half of this for three more green peppers; the only things in the swap box were salad greens and green peppers!)
- six tiny red tomatoes
- six small red onions
- two bunches of green curly kale
- a bunch of hot peppers from the take-what-you-want boxes of herbs and hot peppers (a mix of jalapeno, cayenne, and Hungarian wax peppers)
First thoughts: kale and sweet potato in a bean soup, possibly with sausage. Salad or sandwiches with the greens and tomatoes. Snack on the little peppers. Pickle the carrots and hot peppers. Not sure what I should do with the green peppers; suggestions welcome.
I signed up for a winter share with this farm, pickups every other Wednesday from November into March (11 pickups in all), with some of the items from other farms. I asked the distribution person whether it tends to be produce or products, and he said that it's usually maybe one product per time, and there will be a swap box still, so I should be fine!
Enjoy the winter share!
