What a rainstorm! The highways were flooded, and there was a six-car accident on Rte 2E, in Arlington. And now the sky is clear. Flash! and it's gone.

I'm now out of season.

Kashkaval is a good thing.

However, a non-local person giving out my phone number to a not-quite-random SJM (single Jewish male) without asking me first is not such a good thing, whether or not the SJM is reasonably in the ball park. Or rather, it may or may not end up being a good thing, but how it was done annoys me.

I agree: Kashkaval is a good thing. (Mmmm ... cheese.)

I also agree: Being subjected to an involuntary shidduch is not a good thng.

Not just cheese, but salty and crumbly, yet not a soft cheese... I think my next experiment with it might be on pizza, with lots of veggies to balance the saltiness. (Though when I'll manage to make pizza with all the yom tov cooking coming up, I'm not sure...)

I have the impression that in this case it's really just the random matching of single Jewish people, since the person in question didn't ask me what I would be looking for, and doesn't know me well at all. Nice person A + nice person B, why not, it might work, etc.
Somehow many people don't seem to understand that there is a lot of energy involved, at least for me...

Personally, I like using kashkaval in omelettes. Since it's salty, it means you don't need to add salt to the egg mixture. Kashkaval, spinach and chopped parsley. Mmmm.

Yeah, I know what you mean about the random matching and the energy involved. When I first started shidduch dating, I would come home and cry after every date. Not just because the dates weren't going well (and most of them really didn't) but because it was just emotionally exhausting.

That omelette sounds good, and I don't much care for parsley. Somehow it's never gotten beyond the level of ignorable garnish/karpas for me...

It's exhausting to go on the dates, and it's also draining to wait for someone to call (or not). I'm in limbo, since I have no way to contact this guy (not sure that I would, but that's a different issue), so I just wait and wonder...

(If we meet in person sometime, I'll trade you shidduch date stories... :-)

I wasn't too fond of parsley until I started living in Greece, where it's used to flavor certain dishes. That and learning to make tabbouleh helped. I like the taste, esp. of flat-leaf parsley. But oh well ... not everybody does.

The shidduch situation sounds very frustrating. Waiting to see what the other person says can be so horrible. Several of the guys I was set up with never even bothered to call the shadchan -- gee, thanks. (Yes, I do have stories that we can swap if we ever meet ... but if you want to check out other horror stories, take a look at www.unbrokenglass.com.)

Oh, my!

I've just read a few, and, well, some of them sound so familiar. Different actual stories, but some of the feelings...

(I wish I liked parsley more, especially since it's the usual substitute for cilantro, which I can't eat at all.)

I'm partial to the site, for a few reasons:

1) The stories are funny.
2) She is a good writer, IMO.
3) I've managed to get a couple of stories posted there. (Hooray for ego trips.)
4) And it is now set up for a happy ending, G-d willing.

1) Yes.
2) Yes, though I found the site hard to navigate, being so used to how LJ is set up.
3) Should I go looking...? :-)
4) I"YH; not long now :-)
