Oreos have a new variant, with peanut butter and chocolate cremes swirled together. "Your Reese's is in my Oreo." "Your Oreo is in my Reese's."

Find the line hidden in the parabola.

It's almost impossible not to dance to the drumming of the Malian group Baden'ya.

The blackout: not only are commuters stranded in NYC (among other places affected), but some travelers can't even use their hotel rooms, locked with unusable electronic keys.

It feels strange to come home to silence rather than squawks of welcome (or demands for food, whatever).

Finches follow me: this year I see them at home and at work; neither place had them last year.

Shoulder: one who should?

More flowers: mint, oregano, lavender, arugula, the defiant basil. What's next?

I stopped by the farmer's market in Copley for the first time today, just to look around. One of the places was an herb place, selling herbal sorbets and herbal soaps and such. They also had lavender berry punch. I thought of you when I saw this. I didn't ask what kind of berries were in there, but I'll bet you could come up with something interesting.

That sounds yummy. What color was it, red or purple or something else?
Hm. Pureed berries and chopped up lavender, and some other liquid. I don't like fizzy things, and water sounds too thin. Any ideas? Maybe lemonade?

Btw, did you see any garlic there? How was the rest of the farmer's market? Find anything good?

I didn't actually see what color it was. Well, lemonade is a good drink, and it's just made from juice, water, and sugar. I'm sure berry juice, lavendar, and water would be just fine. You could use lemonade as a base, but then it might get to be a bit coplicated in the flavors.

I don't remember seeing garlic there. Squash, tomatoes, corn, plums, etc. I didn't have any money when I was there, so I didn't look too closely at anything.

You went to a farmer's market without money? You're a stronger person than I...

I have a great recipe for lavender wine. ;)

Is there anything you *wouldn't* turn into wine?
:-)

How much herb would you need to make an herbal wine?

I'll have to ask Herb.

You can make wine out of just about any non-toxic fruit or vegetable matter. If you're interested, check out The Winemaking Homepage (http://winemaking.jackkeller.net/), which lists several very interesting recipes. I'm going to be making a hibiscus wine soon which is very similar to the lavendar wine recipe.

I'm unlikely to make wine at this point; there's just not enough pull for me to figure out a complicated process that takes weeks to be done, that involves so many steps. I'm more likely to branch into flavored oils and vinegars, which seems a bit lower key for time and equipment.
