Well, not so many fools, actually. I signally lacked the appropriate impishness of the day (made more boringly responsible by running the department meeting yesterday (now no longer needing the videoconference room, at least)). Feh.

I finally succeeded in the Quest for Aquarius. Actually, I more than succeeded, since not only did I finally get a deck they'd put aside for me, but on his way to game night, Queue picked up the other deck they had in the store just to make sure I finally got one. Oh, and I caved, and am now the owner of a copy of Hunters and Gatherers, too (more Shabbat-friendly games!).

It was a lovely night for a walk, but I overestimated how long it would take me, so I arrived to the game night rather earlier than I would've chosen. Luckily, the hosts were very gracious about it. I got to learn a new game, Steam Tunnels, and play one I already knew. It was the longest three-person game of Quiddler I've ever played, though I did get to make "quoin". At least there were highly entertaining comments drifting by from the bean game and Hell Rails being played nearby.

And in today's news, this story about a new line of ties a nd scarves designed to filter air w hen you breathe through them, taking out particulate matter.

Haaga, whose style is more rumpled professor than Ralph Lauren, figured the neckwear is less conspicuous than wearing a medical mask. "Who's going to stand around with a mask and look like a dork?" he asks.

And I keep wondering, in an emergency, is someone going to care what they look like as they try not to breathe whatever awful stuff in? And frankly, wouldn't a mask be easier to put on and keep in place, rather than requiring a hand to hold it in place (I know that even if I tied it around my head, it would likely slip.)? And just how sad is it that the world has come to this, anyway?

minatory: threatening with a half-man, half-bull.
(Or would that be a man who is full of bull? Politics everywhere...)

I admit that I was asked for a definition, and was unsure enough that I had to look it up... (but I knew it was a word; too much Boggle... (never too much Boggle :-)).
