I went to get veggies, and found enough to share (see previous post). Stopped at home just long enough to drop off my veggies, then to the Diesel, to distribute some of them. Lots of people there, more than I usually expect. Unfortunately, I wasn't there long enough to chat with people.

Off to dinner at Yoshi's. I hadn't been there before, and it was very nice. The decor was interesting, the pottery quirky and individual, and the sushi good. I was surprised at how room-temperature it was, however. Oh, and there was a cuke salad of some sort to start that was cool and refreshing.

I went to a game night at [I know he has an LJ name, but darned if I remember what it is]'s house. I hadn't been to one of his game nights before, and I was surprised at how few people I recognized. Nice to know that all social groups *don't* overlap... I learned two new games, Blink and Theophrastus. The former is a game of speed and matching; I was not surprised to lose. The latter is more interesting, putting together elements of a alchemical spell, trying to match what the master has in his version of it. I also enjoyed the conversation around it, that included references to Alice in Wonderland; a comparison of books by Ellen Raskin; discussion of Edward Eager's books and how not dated they are, also how literate. Lead puppies. Trading vitriol for sheep (Settlers being played in the next room).

I wished I didn't feel I should leave early, still nursing the incipient cold. Still, a nice evening.

I crushed some garlic in a cup last night, put some luke water on it, and this morning, after being woken by some neighbor's clock radio far too early, drank (some of) the liquid this morning.

Wow.

It's powerful stuff. The cow orker who suggested this said I might want to lie down after, but I couldn't even do that. I just sat for a while, not sure what would happen if I tried to move. I'm still not sure if it's helping, though the throat is a bit less sore than when I woke up.
And getting up, showering helped with nasal congestion that was just starting.

Ginger tea brewed with lemon tea is much nicer (for large quantities, anyway) than ginger tea alone.

(Another cow orker said that his remedy for colds was, when he first felt one coming on, to rub the contents of a high-strength vitamin A tablet (or something) over the back of his throat, 3x/day. He claims that he hasn't had a cold since the 80s...)
