Cold treatments
Aug. 21st, 2002 09:45 amI crushed some garlic in a cup last night, put some luke water on it, and this morning, after being woken by some neighbor's clock radio far too early, drank (some of) the liquid this morning.
Wow.
It's powerful stuff. The cow orker who suggested this said I might want to lie down after, but I couldn't even do that. I just sat for a while, not sure what would happen if I tried to move. I'm still not sure if it's helping, though the throat is a bit less sore than when I woke up.
And getting up, showering helped with nasal congestion that was just starting.
Ginger tea brewed with lemon tea is much nicer (for large quantities, anyway) than ginger tea alone.
(Another cow orker said that his remedy for colds was, when he first felt one coming on, to rub the contents of a high-strength vitamin A tablet (or something) over the back of his throat, 3x/day. He claims that he hasn't had a cold since the 80s...)

Date: 2002-08-21 10:32 am (UTC)Maybe the garlic is speeding up the progress of the cold? (that wouldn't be so bad, I suppose)
