This year's mini-med school Longwood Seminars have been announced. As usual, they're free, and public school teachers can earn 10 PDPs for going to all four sessions and completing the feedback form.

The Human Genome: Where is the Map Taking Us?

We may see a day when having our genes sequenced and "read" by our doctors will be as commonplace as having our blood pressure taken. But what does that mean for you and your health? What can the gene reveal about you, and what can it predict about your risk for disease? How might that information be used (and by whom)? Some of the nation's top geneticists will discuss these questions and address your concerns about these emerging issues.

Eating Lean: Healthy Food for Body and Budget

We all want to eat a healthy diet, but it can often seem cheaper, easier, and (sometimes) tastier to choose less nutritious alternatives. As our speakers will tell you, that doesn't have to be the case. They'll give you the latest on diet, nutrition, and good health, and offer tips on how to eat well without breaking the bank.

I'm not as interested in these as in previous years' offerings, which is just as well, since the first one is during the upcoming winter share season (though if I don't have a day job at that point, it's easy), the third one is the first night of Pesach, and the last one is the last night of Pesach (though I could walk over for that, since carrying on yom tov isn't an issue, though I wouldn't be able to take notes). As for the second one, well, I haven't wondered all that much.
