  • wine, challah (with multigrain flakes)
  • olives, zaatar
  • soup: butternut squash, celeriac, onion, garlic, chickpeas, lacinato kale, salt and pepper, and another bag of organic vegetable broth made this spring
  • chicken, some baked with chipotle mustard, some baked with sugar-free cran-citrus compote
  • brown rice mix (brown rice, black barley, radish seeds)
  • sauteed zucchini with roasted tomatoes (frozen from this summer's farm share bounty)
  • red sauerkraut
  • sorbets (lemon, blueberry, blood orange) and lemon pizzelle
  • figs, cashews, cherries marinated in Maraschino
  • tea

This week felt more like a tossing together of convenient things rather than an inspired whole, except perhaps for the soup.

Radish seeds! That never would have occurred to me.

What a wonderful selection of food. Especially the cashews! I adore cashews.

Truly, I can take no credit for the radish seeds: that combination was a ready-made mix from Trader Joe's. I don't remember seeing it recently; I hope it hasn't vanished from their shelves, because it was a good pairing (tripling?).

I also adore cashews. Oddly, I just found that for the roasted and lightly salted ones that have a hecher from TJ's, I like them even more at least partly frozen. (Discovered when in desperate need of a snack, obviously :-)
