Monday I biked to gaming for the first time ever. I chose a route to be relatively flat, with decent road surface, and to avoid the underpass-then-merge on Rte. 28N, though it meant going through the Sullivan Square roundabout. It went smoothly, even getting over to the third rightmost lane to go straight on Rte. 28 at the intersection with Rte. 16, though I could tell I'm not in the best shape, given the huffing and puffing at times. The excitement of the ride over was when the light changed at that intersection and I started through, then had to swerve to avoid a car tire rolling out from the stopped cars on my right. Just the tire, no clue how it got there, though there were a couple of guys who seemed to be chasing it. I wish I knew the whole story.

The ride back was simpler, since there's no underpass on 28S; I was able to take just about the same route I'd take when driving home. It was much cooler, there was less traffic, and my lights were sufficient for the situation. It felt good to be out, enjoying the night.

Also, seen Monday on a lightpost in Cambridge: bumpersticker with "I [heart] Lebanon" on it.

I have nothing to say about the bumpersticker that is worth repeating.

However, kudos on your bike road. I think that is totally awesome and pretty soon there will be no huffing and just one mean, lean biking machine.

*grin*

Thank you. I've not been aggressive about getting out riding this year (so far, anyway); I hope I can change that through the fall. (And I've got the mean part down, knowing how to glare at cars when the dirvers are going to ignore my right of way. :-)

agghh... I hate riding anywhere near the intersection of rt 28 and rt 16. Not that that's stopped me from riding all the way from my place near davis to revere beach on 16 because that's really the only reasonable way to get there.

I've ridden through before, but not in a while, and not usually from that direction (east-west is definitely easier). It's one of those unavoidable intersections north of Cambridge, yeah. (I could come at it from another direction, but it's way out of the way for me to go to Davis first, or up 99 (and the potholes on 99 are egregiously horrible).)

Here in Kendall, there's a lamp post with "I [heart] Beirut."

Wow. And from all I'd heard, Beirut was lovely back in the day, but that day was decades ago...

I guess I fail to see the significance of the I [heart] (lebanon|beirut) bumper stickers. What else would you expect in a multi-cultural city?

Just noticing.

I haven't seen bumperstickers on lightposts much in general. And I haven't seen "I [heart]" ones in a while either, and when I did the ones I saw were all places in the US. Plus I assume that they've been made since the conflict in the Middle East started, so someone decided this was something they needed to make. It wouldn't be my first (or even later) response, so it's a little surprising to me.
