Date: 2006-05-03 09:19 pm (UTC)Oh, so about the kale- I know you had a good recipe- please share! I have no idea what to do with it. Although I've been vaguely contemplating a lentil-tomato-kale stew.
Oh, and what are you planning for the Savoy spinach? ;)
I didn't eat the broccoli for two weeks, and yesterday I thought I'd use it, but it was FULL of bugs. I cleaned it a couple of times, including with produce soap, but they seemed neverending. And the broccoli looked all limp anyway. I was about to throw it away, but SO told me to let it soak overnight on the porch in a bucket. This morning, when I rinsed, it looked clean, and it was all plump and fresh again. What do you generally do about bugs?

Date: 2006-05-04 12:08 am (UTC)Kale: I adore it, but don't get any from Boston Organics, because there's only one kind I like, and I can't specify only that.
Anyway. What I tend to do with kale is sautee some onions, then add in chopped up kale and cook it for a long time, then add spicy sausages and some hot sauce. Variations include adding chunks of sweet potato or winter squash, or making it more of a soup (with lentils, possibly). It's all good; just let the kale cook a really long time.
And as for broccoli bugs, either my eyes are less exacting, or I'm lucky; probably the former. 'Cause I haven't found any. Maybe I should be looking more intently. Or maybe not :-). If I don't see them, they're not there, right?
