Permanent accounts make a brief appearance

Just in case someone hasn't seen it already.... LJ is going to have a one-day sale of permanent accounts.
When? Tuesday, June 7th (midnight EST) until Wednesday, June 8th (midnight EST), $150.

(Of course, I wonder whether this is because they need a quick infusion of cash for something...)

For what, though? I wonder if it's more LJ functionality (more servers, more people, whatever) or for 6Apart (or whatever their name is).

I'm betting it's more of a goodwill gesture, because people keep asking for them. I don't think Six Apart needs the amount of money this will bring in.

I don't think it's something that we-the-customer/fan/addicts should worry about, though... they implied that they did this last year, too. (On the third hand, it's more expensive now.)

Plus inflation. Though I still think it's a darned good deal for someone who uses LJ regularly.
