Note to self: get a hand fan to bring on the T.

Words that should exist
  • how a person on first meeting is merely ordinary in looks, but after getting to know zir, zir becomes attractive
  • a friend who vanishes from your life as soon as zir is in a new relationship, to return only after the breakup

Pesach has been good so far (though exhausting) except for the teeth, which have hurt since just after the first seder. I got to a dentist yesterday, and there will be many more appointments in the near future, alas. I'm looking forward to the end of the pain, anyway.

The seders were very different in feel, but oddly similar in meal. Both started with a hard-boiled egg, moved on to chicken soup with matza balls, and gefilte fish. Main course was sliced turkey breast, with a starch and a veggie. And desserts were macaroons. It was a bit eerie, actually. Other than food, the first night featured little kids, a wide variety of adults who didn't know one another, and hosts who were particular about shiurim (quantities) and other details. The second night featured thoughtful adults who mostly knew one another, and a wide range of discussion. Both were good, in different ways.

Gaming: not dead yet.

It's the fifth day of the omer.

Cooking for the last days: turkey with stuffing (probably a combination of potato and farfel), cranberry sauce, roasted sweet potatoes (with cayenne, ginger, and cinnamon), sauteed Swiss chard, gefilte fish baked with salsa, roasted garlic, salad. Also whatever other veggies end up cooked (broccoli, collards, and eggplant all come to mind). I'll likely make matza brei on chag for last day lunch. Possibles: chocolate-dipped dried fruit or nuts, spiced nuts, fruit compote. Also would be good to get some fresh fruit.

And it also kind of sounds like "pal and so", which could be taken to mean "not quite a friend, just a pal and so", or maybe "pal-and-so" as a play on "so-and-so", to give it that bit of negative connotation.

Hm. "Paloni" (...almoni)? (Which also goes with "baloney" :)
