I'm lucky enough to have it off, for the first time in my working life, which means I have the chance to see some of the Boston marathon live, like we used to when I was little. Then, we'd picnic on the lawns of Wellesley College (my mother's alma mater), and cheer from there. Now, I'm planning to head to somewhere near mile 25, in Brookline, to cheer on a friend's father and uncle, here from NY and Australia to run for the Children's Hospital team.

I'd forgotten about the reenactment of the Battle of Concord and Lexington early this morning. Every year, I remember it at the wrong time; I hope someday to remember in time to get up early and see it (Plus, there's a Nancy Bond book centered on it, which I really should reread before going.). Next year in Concord, perhaps.

Where are you going to go see the Marathon? Want to come to my neighborhood, see it with me, and have lunch?

1001 Beacon, by 3:30 or so. I was thinking of going over early enough to see the wheelchairs first (er, which means I should get moving soon!), try taking some pictures and such (hooray for camera experimentation!) (er, after getting more film), then taking a break, getting lunch, and joining my friends at the station on Beacon. So, yes, it would be nice to meet up. Which parts were you planning to watch? (elite men/women, rest of the crowd for a bit, etc)

I usually head out in time to see the elite men, followed by the elite women, in the Coolidge Corner area. Are you willing to position yourself a little bit away from 1001, then? Only stipulation is that I have an appointment at 3:45 PM in the area.

As I was taking the bus out to the other end of Arlington yesterday, I was amused to see Redcoats walking along the sidewalk, and around the high school. And then there was a trailer of cannons in front of us for a few blocks. :)

I keep meaning to go to the battles myself. Maybe we can go together, next year, if both of our work schedules allow?
