Happy Patriot's Day
Apr. 18th, 2005 10:14 amI'm lucky enough to have it off, for the first time in my working life, which means I have the chance to see some of the Boston marathon live, like we used to when I was little. Then, we'd picnic on the lawns of Wellesley College (my mother's alma mater), and cheer from there. Now, I'm planning to head to somewhere near mile 25, in Brookline, to cheer on a friend's father and uncle, here from NY and Australia to run for the Children's Hospital team.
I'd forgotten about the reenactment of the Battle of Concord and Lexington early this morning. Every year, I remember it at the wrong time; I hope someday to remember in time to get up early and see it (Plus, there's a Nancy Bond book centered on it, which I really should reread before going.). Next year in Concord, perhaps.
