["triangle ABCD" later becoming "rectangle ABCD"]

Triangle ABC never felt right with just three vertices. It tried and tried, but it just wasn't who it was supposed to be. The doctors were able to help, but required that it live its new identity for a while first, so it became triangle ABCD, finally realizing its full self of rectangle ABCD a year later, after the vertex injection.

[sign: Carpet Liquidators]

It had had a long life, a pedigree of travel service beyond expectation; the original weaver-magician had been incredibly skilled. But it was threadbare now, prone to stutters and stops that could quite easily become a greater problem, depending on the altitude and other traffic conditions. Magna sighed, gripped by nostalgia. She remembered riding this carpet with her grandfather, back when it was plush and new, with those extra safety precautions that everyone took for granted now, but were new and exciting then, like the bubble of slight extra air pressure and the omni-oculars. It was time, though; she needed a new flying carpet, and the government only allowed one per licensed user. She patted it gently, then fed it into the carpet liquidator. At least the liquidated results could be sprinkled on her new carpet, allowing greater speeds than she could otherwise afford.

[toothpasties]

The burlesque dancer needed new pasties. She got out the supplies, thinking for a bit. There was going to be a convention of dentists in town soon... she'd put fake molars on them! Who knew whether they'd get the visual pun, but it would amuse her, and in any case, they'd appreciate her dancing.

[adjective v. adverb]

The adjective swaggered in, raising its large, capable fists to the cheers of the crowd as it entered the Thunderdome. The adverb was next, ruggedly moving forward. Two parts of speech would start the fight; only one would walk out.

[Smith Street]

It hadn't thought about the consequences, being the only one to see the crime by one of the Family's hit men. There was nothing it could do now, other than go into the witness protection program. "Smith Street" it would have to be, however much it pined for the old days of [redacted] Avenue, lined with elm trees.

[Minus 2nd Street]

She didn't like that part of town anyway, it was so negative, down in the dumps. She thought about subtracting it, just taking it out of the city entirely, but she knew there'd be protests. Minus 2nd Street was here to stay.

(alternatively)

He ran, and she knew she couldn't catch him; she wasn't allowed to go past the axis into the shadow side of the city; she was rated only for full positivity. He'd gotten away, and was likely changing the things he'd taken into cash at one of the pawn shops that lined Minus 2nd Street, far enough from the border that the first quadrant cops couldn't meander there even by 'accident.'

These are really wonderful :)

I really, really want to see toothpasties become reality (though not enough to take up burlesque).

Thank you!

I did mention the idea to someone tonight who's dating someone who makes pasties for sale. I dunno that it'll happen, but it feels like I've put the idea out there...

(Frankly, I don't know that they'd actually look good.
Oh, wait, sudden flash: there's a woman in the Evil Boy video who has teeth near there, and it was a bit creepy.)
