Not quite complete, but...

Journey to a 1-900 number
aka a call to a denominatrix

"Hello, this is Linnea, what would you like?"
"..."
"Well, then... I want you to show me your numerator... take your shirt off. What acute angles you have!"
"... and now your denominator. You're going to be a very improper fraction."
"How's your linear transformation? Is your ray pointing up?
Mmmm, what circumference and length! The magnitude of your vector keeps increasing! Really, your points are such outliers..."
"I want you to keep repeating those manual translations."
"And then your hypothesis comes to its conclusion..."

A cabal of linear functions: line plot.
Vegetation planning to take over the world: stem-and-leaf plot.
Variable dances: two-step equation.
If one is not negative about dancing, then one is contrapositive.

oddly enough

There is a tv commercial out that has a woman who is really into her tech manuals and reads them to her kid for a bedtime story...your excerpt reminded me of that...

Tech manuals, huh? Somehow that would not quite cut it for bedtime stories in my house... I like having a bit more character development :-)
