Browsing friendsfriends, I found this description of a new meme.

(from TheoMachio)
How it works: Someone (me) posts a picture. Your mission is to reply post with a picture that "defeats" my picture. In turn, someone replies with a picture that defeats that one, and so on. So, for example, if I posted a map of France, someone could post a picture of Hitler, then someone could post a picture of FDR. Then someone could post a picture of the polio virus. Then someone co uld post a picture of Jonas Salk. The games goes until someone plays Jesus or Kevin Bacon.

Somehow this sounded more like a game to me (hey, Queue - another game that wouldn't require any materials). The first person starts with som ething (person/place/object, or possibly an idea, I suppose, in a variant version), and the other/next player names something that defeats it (see examples in the orginal description), until someone plays Moses (hey, I'm Jewish, I don't feel like having J esus be the ultimate) or [Hm. I don't know much at all about actors, so while Kevin Bacon is entertaining, I suppose, I'd never play him. Anyone have another end conditional to put here?].
I think if there are points at all, they're awarded for entertainment value/coolness, rather more like in the 10,000 Blank White Cards sort of game, rather than more traditional ones.

Games like that really annoy me for some reason.

That is all.

. . . then you will certainly HATE Mornington Crescent. As a matter of fact, it is probably the quintessential game for annoying [livejournal.com profile] queue, uniting all the people who love to annoy people like [livejournal.com profile] queue into a single, mindless mission aimed right at you.

Do yourself a favor; under any circumstances. Even taking this small action constitutes a move in the game of Mornington Crescent, and a very annoying one, at that.

Furthermore, don't even reply to either of these comments. No joy is to be found there.

Oh my. How evil.

I'll just reply to my own comment, then

On first mention, I googled it. Wasted a good 6.5 minutes of my life trying to figure out what the hell it is.

Did you find out? The most I know (and exactly where I picked up this knowledge, I don't know) is that if I'm recalling correctly, it's a game the basic premise of which is that you figure out shortest routes to get to and from various places via the London Tube.

So, [livejournal.com profile] pinkfish, what dire thing is now going to happen to me?
