Turkey take 0: Buy 9.5 lb turkey.

Turkey take 1: Roasted with stuffing, served to six reasonably hungry people Thanksgiving evening.

Turkey take 2: Soup with lots of veggies, using the frame and whatever else was less of interest left after dinner. Served a variety of nights, both with and without different kinds of dumplings (at least 10 bowlsful, probably more).

Turkey take 3: Stir fry, using the solids left in the soup, since there was almost no liquid left. Sautee onion, broccoli, carrot, soy beans, water chestnuts. Add the rest of the turkey and whatever veggies from the soup. Add soy sauce, ginger, sesame oil (possibly a little too much of this). Ate a couple of bowls, and there is some of this left over still. But at least the big fleishig pot is no longer taking up room in my fridge.

We (housemates) are roasting a turkey tonight. I'd finished my t-day turkey leftovers at the end of last week, so I'm thrilled. yay turkey!
Although I'm not sure how much leftovers we'll have, with about 8 people eating.

What size turkey? There are some huge ones out there that provide massive leftovers even with dinner for 8.

I've made turkey for Shabbat dinners, just so I can be sure of having leftovers; I'm always amazed at how many guys (it always seems to be guys) who are rapturous at having something that "special" for dinner.

This is probably influenced by the fact that you generally have more men over for dinner than women.

That may be true now, but in the past I did try to make most Shabbat meals relatively gender balanced.

I didn't know before, but now I know that it was a 20 lb turkey. We probably ate about half of it, and we ended up being 6 adults, and two small kids who mostly just picked at little bits and were more interested in playing with the little gingerbread houses.
Yum. :) and there are leftovers!

I don't think I've ever cooked one that large!
Hooray for leftovers!
