Loooooniness
Aug. 22nd, 2002 10:23 amAfter work last night, I started some vegetables roasting for dinner before a short bike ride. That and the shower afterward seemed to help fight the cold, some. Dinner of roasted potatoes-carrots-onions (1st two farm veg), and roasted slices of eggplant-red heirloom tomato-yellow heirloom tomato (all farm veg). Both kinds were with olive oil, sea salt, and rosemary.
Off to the Looney night. I played Quiddler with Treacle_Well, and jurored in a Nanofictionary game, but wasn't up for anything more, so home for a quiet check of computer stuff before bed (so not as much looniness as I would've preferred). I'm still amazed that I got to bed at reasonable hours after games the last two nights.
This morning, woke up early, feeling a bit better. Perhaps the garlic really did nip this in the bud? Still some nose, but the throat is a bit better, no light fevers or headache I'd had yesterday.
And today's interesting cold remedy was given to me by yet another cow orker, a balm (of vaseline, camphor, menthol, and peppermint oil) from some southeast Asian country. It claims to heal (among other things) "Toothache, Stomach-pain, Headache, Ulcer, Itch." He told me to put it on the end of my nose, to breathe in the menthol. It feels rather like incredibly intense peppermint lip balm on my nose, a cool minty sensation, not taste. So far, I think I prefer this to the garlic, though I think the garlic is probably why I feel I might be already on the upswing of this cold.
