To Do

I've actually been managing to get a fair bit done today at work (hooray!). I'm still planning to write up the rest of my vacation, but all the other things there are to do have been swirling through my head, keeping me from concentrating on any longer post. Of course, had the weather not been so ridiculously hot, more of this would've already been done, but I move pretty slowly in my overheated apartment (Would someone please play a "Change Weather" card already?).

Cooking:
Make a fig-and-honey something to can; the figs are completely ripe and I should've done this the day I returned. (Of course, I put off getting more small canning jars, so I'll end up using pints when I'd rather use half-pints. Ah, well.)
Sautee a bunch of greens (mustard, x-choi, swiss chard) (less room used in the fridge!) with onions, garlic, some almonds, perhaps add to rice. Keep for Sunday visitors?
Something for potluck tonight: pasta with the rest of the tomato salad from last night? Maybe.

Cleaning: I have friends coming to stay Sunday, and one of them is the neatest, cleanest house person I know. So of course I'd like to have my place spic and span. It won't be, but getting the laundry and some piles of paper under control is a worthy goal... also, having the beds made up with clean sheets before they arrive would be a good thing.
So, a couple of loads of laundry
Make the beds.
Straighten as many rooms as possible.
Deal with at least one pile of paper.

Packing
Going to NJ for the weekend, and I'd rather not forget anything crucial. Packing tonight, rather than in the morning, would make it less likely to forget anything.

Also stop at the new kosher take-out place in Newton to see what they have.

Breathe.

Go to potluck.

Breathe some more.

Julie's Kitchen
34 Langley Rd. (near Newton Center)

What I've heard so far is that they're mostly take-out, though there are a few tables there. Separate meat and vegetarian cases. Snazzy food and classic "Jewish food." Not cheap (it's in Newton...).

More information after I manage to get myself there...
