Farm share, week 18
Oct. 12th, 2022 07:25 pm- three pounds of potatoes (mostly red-skinned ones
- two pounds of beets
- two pounds of purple-top turnips
- two large acorn squash
- six green peppers
- six little cauliflowers
- four tiny eggplant
- two stalks of Brussels sprouts (I traded for more beets; the work involved in getting them ready to cook is more than I wanted to deal with this week)
- three quarters of a pound of spinach
- six heads of garlic
- take what you want hot peppers (I took a lot of jalapenos)
First thoughts: what, no carrots?! Cook the peppers with eggplant, onions, mushrooms, tomato sauce, and Impossible meat, then serve with pasta. Various roasted root veggies. Roasted cauliflower. Baked acorn squash. Lacto-fermented jalapenos. I'm not super-excited by purple-topped turnips though; any favorite recipes appreciated.
I'm delivering Shabbat dinner to two couples with new babies (both have listed similar restrictions in what they want, otherwise I wouldn't have stacked them), so I'm aiming for things that are portable as well as stay warm in the sukkah.
