Farm share, week 17
Oct. 5th, 2022 08:40 pm- four pounds sweet potatoes
- one and a half pounds of carrots
- one and a half pounds of onions (a mix of little yellow and red ones)
- four heads of cauliflower or broccoli (the friend who picked up for me chose all cauliflower, which makes me super happy - this might be the first time I've gotten cauliflower in my share)
- six green bell peppers
- a bunch of scallions
- two bunches of kale or chard (my friend picked up one of each)
- one and a half pounds of salad mix
- take what you want hot peppers (jalapenos, cayennes, and paprikas)(my friend picked up a small bag of a mix of these)
First thoughts: I'm lucky to have a (nonJewish) friend who was willing to pick up my farm share for me, given Yom Kippur. Obviously there will be many sweet potato things in my future, not sure whether just baked whole/roasted diced, or some other things (maybe in a black bean soup with cumin?); chard will be sauted with some allium or other; it's feeling a bit chilly for green salad, but maybe some fancy sandwich with lots of greens? Not sure about the rest, but they're workhorse veggies, so they'll be used.
