Bits forced together to make a post
Nov. 9th, 2012 01:12 pmIntense yodeling on a dock: piercing pier sing
I spoke too soon of recovery: the cold has merely moved lower, becoming more of a cough. Still, easier than requiring masses of tissues. And in other body news, a reminder to self that it took over a week for the roof of the mouth to recover from being burned on bites of hot potato; please be more careful in future.
I've brought the lavender shrub inside for the winter. Anyone have favorite edible uses for lavender? (The leaves more than the flowers, since I have much more of the former than the latter.)
Sleep Talkin' Man has inspired a great idea for a costume: the devil's avocado. Not that I'm likely to make it happen, but I love the thought of it.

- The eruv continues to be down for maintenance. ::sigh::
- Next Wednesday evening (November 14) there's going to be a community beit midrash session at Hebrew College about observance of Thanksgiving, led by R. Micha'el Roseberg (an excellent teacher; he taught the NHC class on Leviticus this summer, that had us all wishing we had at least twice as much time). Scroll down their events page for more info and for the email address for RSVPing. (And I wouldn't turn down a ride there, either :-)
- Saturday morning is the Foot of the Charles rowing regatta for college rowers (possibly only women? I found this MIT schedule that's only for women's teams).
- Artisan's Asylum will be having a one-day open studio on Saturday, December 1. I'm not sure whether it'll run until after Shabbat, though there will be cool things to see.
