Computer available?

My current computer (desktop iMac) has a PowerPC processor rather than an Intel, and has become officially out of date: I can't upgrade my browsers (though the sites online are happy to go through an annoying loop: Upgrade your browser!" "Oops, your hardware doesn't support any newer browser." "Upgrade your browser!"). And a fan has gone kaput, so watching video (on the one browser that still works on) doesn't work so well in the heat that we seem doomed to have for months more (where "doesn't do so well" = blackouts, or what I think of as mini-strokes).

All of which is a long intro to asking: is anyone getting rid of a newer-than-mine computer? I don't need to be cutting edge on pretty much anything, but able to have current browsers would be good :-). I do prefer Macs to PCs, but I'm flexible, and have had PCs before.

(I suppose I ought to look at refurbished Macs, but I figured I'd ask around first. Can't hurt, blahblahblah.)
