Is there anything fun and/or interesting going on Monday?

23 apples + 4 pears = 0.5 soup pot full of apple-pear sauce.
Debate: cinnamon or plain?

I went to the Butcherie this morning, and found that they have fresh ground turkey, for $4.99/lb (almost double TJ's). What I don't understand is why they're also selling already-made turkey meatloaf for $4.99/lb too. Hm.

What would the fall be like if Sukkot were before R"H, and the holidays ended with Y"K? Would there be more time to appreciate this wonderful season, rather than turning around and finding it's mostly passed? Alternatively, having Sukkot a week later than it currently is, to give some breathing room after Y"K, rather than having it be the last leg of the holiday sprint.

I wonder if people who are deaf have an easier time training as a mime, since sign languages involve communicating through gesture. Or would it be harder, always wanting to break out into actual words, rather than implied ones?

  • a half-peck of apples, six of them yellow, the rest red
  • a big leek
  • a head of red-leaf lettuce
  • ten potatoes (a couple of pounds?)
  • a delicata squash
  • three green peppers (are they still not ripe yet?)
  • two beets
  • four red onions
  • six carrots (a pound?)
  • three long thin Asian eggplants, two violet, one white

Realization: holidays always come when the days are maximally shortening, adding to my feeling of missing the autumn.

Going offline momentarily, still have things to cook, etc. Hope everyone has a great half-week, and a chag sameach to those who celebrate.
