There were six cops standing around the end of Charles St. by the T station. Then I walked passed another one on the sidewalk. Then there were eight cop motorcycles parked in a row, the cops in question sitting and standing around the open air part of a cafe. Then a traffic cop. At the end of the street was a cop car, with the cop talking to a state policeman. A college cop car went by. All that on the length of Charles St. (half a mile, perhaps?). Then in the Common there were a couple of three-horse cop patrols, along with a number of park rangers, and many helicopters flying over.
No one cared what I had in the big bag I was carrying, I suppose because I wasn't close enough to harm the convention with my picnic goods.
