Gmail has changed the look and feel of my email. I can't tell if I dislike it so much just because it's change, or because it really is this annoying. It's... floatier? less anchored? in a way I don't care for. I liked the previous version a lot.
Particular dislikes:
I can't tell: will I find more annoyances as I go on, or will these fade as I adjust?
(Side note: I have been using this new layout for weeks with my secondary work email. I still don't like it, but now that I don't have the choice, perhaps that will change.)
Edited to add:
And apparently chat is not longer worth putting on the main page? Again, not so happy.
Particular dislikes:
- An email taking up twice as much vertical space in the inbox if there are attachments (showing file names rather than just an icon that there is an attachment). I want to see more of my inbox.
- A previous email being truncated, even a short one, without any indication that there's more text there. I clicked, and it showed, but for a two-line email with a one-word reply, it should all be on the screen at once without an extra click.
- Three possible 'canned' responses to some emails. (On a thread about food, it popped up with "Sounds yummy!", "Yum!", and "Love it!". On one about scheduling, the options are "Thanks, I'll let you know.", Will do.", and "Will do, thanks!".) Email is a personal response, not a Facebook emoticon on previous content.
