Windy wet walk
Oct. 22nd, 2014 09:22 pmIt was my first rainy walking commute. Now I know where the worst puddles are (which are where the icy bits are more likely to be this winter). And I was reminded why I dislike the current formulation of reflective white paint used at crosswalks: it's noticeably more slippery than the road/sidewalk.
In other excitement, not only did the wind flip my umbrella inside out a couple of times, it blew hard enough to leave it in two pieces, the stalk completely detached from the shelter! (I carried it the rest of the way to work, using whatever residual protection it could provide.)
Does anyone have suggestions for good raincoats? I want one that's knee length, or at least mid-thigh, with a hood wide/deep enough to keep my glasses dryish. It should be waterproof (duh), yet have enough wicking that I don't get wet from sweat (inner layer? super material of the future? no idea the best route on this one). At least two pockets would be good; more is better.
