Farm share, week 13
Sep. 4th, 2014 11:25 am- a spaghetti squash
- a head of green cabbage
- two large or four small eggplants
- two stalks of broccoli
- three-quarters of a pound of carrots
- a third of a pound of okra (both green and purple pods!)
- a third of a pound of salad mix
- two pounds of heirloom tomatoes (many kinds)
- two pounds of slicer tomatoes
- a bunch of Swiss chard
- a bunch of edamame
- a head of red-leaf lettuce
- four long red hot peppers
- a bunch of parsley (traded for more eggplant)
I just wish there had been some form of allium, too. And I probably should have traded the spaghetti squash, since I never do find myself inspired by it (all other winter squashes are nicer, in my opinion).
I just pickled the hot peppers, and am debating pickling the okra (or roasting it). Obviously, some green salad with happen. Also, stir-fry with the broccoli and some carrots, with some steamed edamame as an appetizer. The eggplant will likely be sauteed once I get some onions. And the cabbage can wait a bit; I just started a new batch of sauerkraut yesterday with two previous heads (napa + red).
