Short stuff
May. 29th, 2012 03:39 pmFor locals: the Harvest Co-op in Central Square has lost its lease, and the current location will close at the end of August. They'll likely move into a space across the street that's 50% of the current, with no plan yet for what will vanish. Clear Conscience Cafe has no plans yet, and there's no word on the farmers' market, CSA, and CSF that use the parking lot.
Boston has Duck Tours and Swan Boats; I want there to be a third aquatic avian something to do. (And thanks to Bitty and Bubblebabble.)
(Another "third" I haven't figured out yet: Breaking Away, Triplets of Belleville, and .... not sure what other movie. Thoughts?)
I've been watching Game of Thrones (thanks Rhya), and every time I watch a new episode, I wonder when someone is going to offer real, three-dimensional versions of each place shown on the map in the opening credits (note: actual opening credits change each week depending on where the action takes place, which I think is a nice touch). I know it would be expensive to have that kind of clockwork, but it seems like a crowdsourcing campaign that would take off (more money = more cities and/or a base map?).
Speaking of crowdsourcing, Emperor Norton's Stationary Marching Band and the Boston Circus Guild are putting on a new show at the end of next month, Threshhold (only 18 days left :-).
I bought four tomato seedlings at last week's Davis Square farmers' market, and transplanted them before the weekend (finally using up the last fish skin and frames I had frozen from the fish share.... two years ago now? as under-plant fertilizer). Two of them already have multiple open tomato flowers, which is crazy-early, matching the rest of the season, I suppose. I haven't gotten any other new plants yet, but have volunteers and overwintered plants, including lots of chives, shiso, oregano, and lavender. I haven't gotten things organized nicely yet either. Hopefully soon, so it will feel more welcoming, rather than a jumble.
