[local eating] Farm share, week 17
Sep. 30th, 2009 05:55 pm- a thin eggplant (Thai or Japanese; I chose the latter)
- three pounds of potatoes (look like Yukon Gold)
- kale or collards (I got flattish purplish kale)
- a head of lettuce (I got romaine, because that was accessible when I was there)
- a third of a pound of salad greens (there were a bunch of bins with different things; I went heavy on the red-leaved options and the arugula)
- two and a half pounds of bell peppers (I nabbed red ones)
- a kohlrabi*
- a bunch of dill
- two-thirds of a pound of broccoli florets
Now I can start planning my Sukkot meals, which will involve some kind of kohlrabi slaw, and a stew-y dish with kale and winter squash, perhaps with vegan sausage. And green salad.
* They ranged from large to freaking enormous, already trimmed of leaves. I got a fairly large one, and all I can think of is that it would be the perfect heart for a double-size vegetable golem.
