Yay, newsletter this week, my penultimate week for the season; I'll be starting the Red Fire Farm share next month, through the main season, then switching back to Enterprise next winter (they've already started planning more locally-sourced produce then, too). Everything listed below is organic, except for the low-spray IPM apples.

  • a bunch of spinach, Enterprise Farm, Whately, MA
  • a biggish bag of arugula, Enterprise Farm, Whately, MA
  • a bunch of collards, Lady Moon Farm, FL
  • a bunch of green curly kale, Lady Moon Farm, FL
  • a bunch of scallions from somewhere or other
  • a bunch of tat soi, NC
  • a cucumber, Peace River, FL
  • five medium sweet potatoes, Watauga, NC
  • a zucchini and a summer squash, Alderman, FL
  • a bunch of red radishes with greens, NC
  • a green pepper, Alderman, FL
  • two tomatoes, Longwind Farm, VT (greenhouse)
  • a bag of shelling peas, NC
  • eight apples, Pine Hill Orchard, Colrain, MA
  • a pound of strawberries, Miles Berry Farm, Baxley, GA

Of note: there's no lettuce this week, the first time ever. Also, I'm pleased that last week's guess about tat soi was correct :-). Still around from last week: apples, chard, tat soi, a green pepper, and a couple of sweet potatoes (but I got through the huge lettuce on my own :-). I think there will be a batch of applesauce in my future. The strawberries will likely be sliced with Greek-style yogurt. The zuke, squash, and pepper will likely be roasted with onions (though not tomorrow during the day, if the weather ends up as hot as it's currently predicted (I'm still hoping not)). Not sure what else will happen yet.

Also, June 27 and 28 out in western MA there's going to be farm and garden tours, including Enterprise Farm. I doubt I'll make it, but it sounds interesting.
