All items in this week’s share are organic, except for the apples, which are IPM, and the onions, which are from a local conventional farm.

  • six apples (my guess from their list is that I got four Empire and two Mutsu), Clarkdale Orchard, Deerfield, MA
  • four Red Valencia oranges, Eagle’s Nest, FL
  • four honey tangerines, Eagle’s Nest, FL
  • two small onions, Long Plain Farm, Whately, MA
  • four medium sweet potatoes (Beauregard, Ruby), Watauga Farm, NC
  • thirteen potatoes (seven red-skinned, six either Yukon or Kennebec), Deep Root, VT
  • two golden beets with a few leaves, Lady Moon Farm, FL
  • a bunch of red kale, Lady Moon, FL
  • a bunch of flat-leaf parsley, Lady Moon Farm, FL
  • two heads of lettuce, one red leaf and one green leaf, Lady Moon Farm, FL
  • a bunch of green chard, Lady Moon, FL
  • two medium zucchini, Lady Moon, FL
  • a pint of grape tomatoes, AldermanFarms, FL
  • a bunch of what looks like dandelion greens (large enough that they're somewhat bitter), Lady Moon Farm, FL

I still have lettuce from last week; I need to be more aggressive about eating salad! (And get more feta, which makes it easier for me to make salad for one, for some reason.) Given all the cooking greens, I should do something like saag (which I've never made before), or perhaps something-kopitas (have to get that feta again). Other thoughts include baked root veggies and a fruit crumble.

I actually had a homemade version of this years ago -- hortakopita. (Horta is the generic word for "greens".) It was yummy. IIRC it was just greens, no feta.
