I can understand how a trigonometry chapter can be full of angels*.
There's no excuse for cotermianl angels, however.

(Which is another way of saying spellcheck ain't perfect, but it does have its uses.)

* I could so totally see a story with tangent and cotangent angels.

...and as always, spelling flames attract spelling errors. :)

Consider: what are the design constraints on a spell-checker for a spell-book? That might make an interesting story.

ya know, initially, I just figured you meant calculating the angles at which their hands are held, arms are outstretched, etc.

then I read the second sentence....

The one spelling issue in the post is intentional.
Unless I missed another one?

Ooh! Excellent question.
Though it sort of breaks my brain as well, having magic and technology together like that. Grimoires, yes, but not e-grimoires, as it were.

Like semaphore! Good thing it's not angles of angel legs, if the one-leg theory is true ;-P.

(There is no way angels could end up in a public school math textbook in this era.)

They actually wrote "cotermianl angels"? *head hurts*

Suddenly I imagine something Sorceror's Apprentice-like happening because the spellchecker offered the wrong correction....

And the supplementary angels get called in when things get busy.

Yep. Along with a host of other things that would have been caught had spellcheck been used. And many it would not have, too.

He looks around, around
He sees angels in the architecture
Spinning in infinitity
He says amen and hallelujah.

There's a scene not unrelated to this in the beginning of a recent Diana Wynne Jones book, with the kid in question not noticing the pages riffling along between her checks of the spell 'recipe.' Hilarity ensues, of course.
