[LJ styles] titles

Sometime in the last couple of hours, LJ changed some setting or another, so titles of posts look different. Annoyingly so, of course, since a larger, bolder, colored, italic-ish font really doesn't need underlining as well. Plus the color changed, to a red that's too loud to me. I should poke around to see whether there's some way of changing it back. (For the record, I'm all retro, in the classic (read: boring) original style.)

I'm also using a classic style, and I see a change. It looks like they made the titles into html links so you could go to that specific entry. On my view they're green and bold and underlined. Bleh. Y'know, they keep making these changes and so far, they've kinda sucked. They haven't improved anything, IMO. Then again, I suppose they really need to please the Russians, or whomever is their largest demographic these days. I know I'm not it.

Color me confused, then: if I'm looking at the post, why would I need to go to the specific entry? There were already ways of navigating to a specific entry, and I don't see the utility of this. (What about that whole opt-in kind of change, instead of arbitrary changes that make people nuts?)

I thought it was because I'd changed to one of the new Minimalism styles.

I liked having a "link" option before I changed - it meant I could copy link location and paste if I needed to link to a post.

What a clever idea! Evidently, only certain changes warrant such a revolutionary step, such as making your account searchable by email address. If it's a purely internal change, you're out of luck.

The question (to me) becomes: how much will complaining actually change anything? I will not give them money, certainly not $175, but neither will I leave. Did you see the furor that happened a while back when they changed the format of your main page? They set up a separate group for people to give specific complaints - no more "I don't like it!" kind of crap. All of us "change is bad!" folks are out of luck.

Go look at my journal. It looks the same, except that the titles now appear to be links. No underline, no italics. I forget what settings I used (or even where to set that).
