Franchise: exercised
Nov. 4th, 2008 10:34 amThere was a line! Out the door! I've never seen that around here before. It didn't take too long (got to the end of the line at 10:12, had a ballot in hand at 10:27), but wow! In the middle of the morning, even.
I left at 10:30, 615th person to vote in that precinct.
Of interest: there was a page of people who weren't on the lists, hand signing in and out. I don't know whether they hadn't gotten their paperwork done in time, or there was a snafu: I had word from Laurens10 via Tapuz that there is a state-wide problem with some long-term voters dropped from the rolls. Further signal boosting appreciated.
eta, 1110 And in a USian-centric choice, Google has an election logo today.

Date: 2008-11-05 01:28 pm (UTC)There was a link in Davis_square to a story about there being a Cambridge-specific issue with voters dropped from the rolls; no idea if that's what she ran into or some other problem.
Btw, a friend of mine wasn't allowed to vote in Somerville because, although he'd changed his registration three times (once when he moved, once when he changed his driver's license, and once when he had to vote in Quincy in the primary), it hadn't gone through, and they denied him even a provisional ballot, even though they called Quincy and confirmed he hadn't voted there. (He didn't have the time to make it to Quincy, especially since he was on a bike.)
I think the votes all went as he would have chosen, but I was still appalled to hear about this.
