who knew that april 2 is... pb&j day!

right during passover this year, i'm sure not to be celebrating properly. though with my non-preference for pb, i probably wouldn't've done much, anyway.

interestingly, according to the globe citing a smucker's survey, most people like their pb&j sandwiches cut on the diagonal. and grape jelly is most favored (all i think of is those purpled sandwiches kids pulled out at lunchtime in grade school, jelly having taken over one slice of bread. i didn't like the looks of those.). and 62% prefer white bread.

[seems like i should put a poll in here. but i leave that for someone else.]

favorite phrase from this morning's news: "statistically undead"
(from a discussion about census stuff. but i could see some great other discussions.
"just got my numbers back from the doctor, and now i'm more than 73% undead. maybe if i exercise more..."
"look! there's joe's arm heading out for a midnight prowl! he must be, what, 40% undead now."
"bartender! give me a zombie!" "sorry, sir, i'll need to see some proof of undeadification first.")

(maybe i'll go back to index checking now... it is one of my least favorite tasks...)

Thanks for the laugh :)

As for sandwiches -

Almond butter and raspberry jam :) Yum. Or honey instead of jam (honey and peanut butter is good, too). No slicing necessary - just provides more edges for leakage. And on REAL bread, not that limp, fluffy, more-air-than-substance white crap that has to be "enriched" to count as food. Hmm . . . wonder how the white bread stacks up on the undead scale.

white bread is THE bread for the undead: all the preservatives keep them in fine form, and the lack of anything that needs chewing is easier on potentially loose teeth...

and white bread has the ever-useful ability to be rolled into pellets to flick at people... (matza totally lacks in this regard!)

so many axes along which to permute:
crunchy/smooth/freshly ground. white/wheat/boule/sourdough (well, maybe)/etc. grape/apricot/strawberry/plum/raspberry/blueberry/marmalade/etc. peanut/almond/hazelnut/etc. crusts/no crusts. triangles/rectangles/squares.

and peanut butter & honey is pretty nice, yes.
possibly with slices of banana, too.
(i've even heard of a pb, j, &b sandwich - peanut butter, jelly, and bacon. hey, you reading this, cthulhia? :)

i always wonder why no one makes kosher-for-passover almond butter- seems like it would help hold the crumbly stuff together.

I can attest that peanut butter and bacon is a good combination. I have friends who put peanut butter on bread, bacon on top of that, chili sauce on top of that, and throw it in the oven until the bacon is cooked. That peanut butter and bacon and chili sauce taste is nummy. Making my mouth water just thinking about it. mmmmmmmmmm

How could I forget?!?

Peanut butter and . . . pickle. Mmm. My mom introduced me to this interesting combo. It's better than it might sound :)

there has to be a way to make passover-safe pb&j, yes? somehow? and if not, have you discovered a new marketing niche?

actually, I can't stand pb&j. don't like the j. i'm a pb&banana kinda' gal. and then [livejournal.com profile] lcohen mentioned pb&pickles on alt.poly. which sounds really nasty unless i'm PMSy, in which case, it actually sounds pretty good.

oh, and pb&potato chips is *wonderful*.

-bitty, who goes years wrinkling her nose at pb, and then has these year-long constant cravings for the stuff. weirdness. is that why becky asked me if i was pregnant?

well, peanuts are kitniyot, so only sefardis would eat pb on passover. there must be lists of acceptable for passover items that have kitniot, somewhere.

and why does no one make almond butter for passover? that would work.
