i needed a tetanus shot...
Mar. 9th, 2002 09:04 pmthe short version: i broke my left index finger yesterday, and i may need surgery & pins/plates to make it stable (you can't tell just how long it's taking to type this one-handed....).
so there will likely be fewer posts in the next weeks while incapacitated.
on the up side, i now have had a tetanus shot, so i'm good for the next decade. and i got my first ride in an ambulance. (plus my first faint.).
and my friends have been wonderful, queue coming to the emergency room and doing hand-holding (the other hand :), not to mention rallying sushi for dinner, and, with hrafn, retrieving my car from trader joe's, where i'd fallen (over a curb. really, i've got to work on that walking thing.). and a listening ear, and supporting hands. and hrafn and cthulhia coming over as well, distracting me from the annoyances and occasional pain.
today i've been figuring out what i can do (though sometimes with much more effort than usual), and what is just not possible. in the latter category: tying shoelaces (luckily it was warm enough for sandals today), driving, chopping vegetables (how much will my diet change...?), shuffling cards (as both hrafn & cthulhia found out), eating food that requires cutting with a knife, typing two-handed. and i'm sure there's lots of other things i haven't yet realized...
i can still write ok, so there may be more in my paper journal for a bit.
[i suppose i'll put the whole story in here, but i just don't feel like typing it tonight. maybe tomorrow...)
