Food for Shabbat day
Aug. 17th, 2007 06:46 pmI'm invited out tonight :-).
Also, I should cut corn off the cob for making salad. And I have all I need for more tomato salad, or green salad, depending on what suits my mood tomorrow.
What's left from the Wednesday produce influx: chard, some green beans, some corn, some tomatoes, cabbage, lettuce, half the green peppers, and some carrots from a previous week. Probably a few other strays from previous weeks, too. I hope to have a plan for most of these Sunday.
- grape liquid, whole-wheat pitas
- hummus, black olives (Nicoise and Kalamata)
- sauteed ground turkey (flavored with Szechuan spicy sauce) with onion*, shiitake mushrooms*, broccoli*, and string beans* (the Trader Joe's downtown only has ground turkey breast, which is too lean to have any flavor, so I got the mushrooms, to add umami. I probably should've figured out something else to make that didn't use the turkey, but I've been wanted a bit of fleishigs, since it's been a while)
- roasted zucchini*, green pepper*, and tomato (of note: the zucchini from Boston Organics has that weird slimy-on-the-hands-when-cut thing going on, which the farm zukes do not. I wonder if it's a function of time since harvest?)
- rice cooked with the liquid of Wednesday's leftover tomato salad*, the salad itself and some diced Kalamatas added after cooking
- roasted oranges, peaches, nectarine, and Meyer lemon with maple syrup, olive oil, and triple-fold vanilla
- cantaloupe
* local
