The short form: I went to California on a business trip this week. Worked a ton. Redeye home. Exhausted now, and there's construction going on next door, so no nap for me. Thanks to Queue for the Logan run, and to Tapuz for veggie retrieval. Also happy-making: six grape tomatoes ripe when I got home! Of course, that was supposed to be a sungold plant...

Zombie-fied brain, so more details later.

edit Also, happy palindrome week (for the dates). Tomorrow will be particularly nice, but I likely won't get online....

Welcome back. Nap well.

You need to go on an extended business trip to Atlanta. Just sayin'.

Thanks. I think the napping will have to be deferred until tomorrow.

*grin*
There need to be more vendors in Atlanta...

Welcome back!

Off topic: can you recommend any shuls within walking distance of Hebrew College?

Unfortunately, I'm not familiar with that part of Newton at all. I can see on Google maps that there are places around, but I've not been to any of them. I think Gnomi or Mabfan might be more familiar with Newton.

Thanks. I misremembered your proximity to Hebrew College.

What about *at* Hebrew College? :-)

The Newton Centre Minyan (http://www.newtoncentreminyan.org/) (which should not be judged by its website!) has been meeting there for the past few years.

Other options include Temple Emanuel and Mishkan Tefillah (Conservative), Congregation Beth El and Shaarei Tefillah (Orthodox) and the Zviller Beis Midrash (yes, really!). There are even more options if your idea of walking distance is >1 hour, or if you are okay taking public transportation. (Wasn't sure whether the "walking distance" was because no car or because of Shabbat -- HC is a short walk from the MBTA...)

(Note: I'm not sure on my spelling on any of the above places... feel free to e-mail me @lj for more infomation on any...)

Thanks for your help!

I think (but am not sure due to the age and vagueness of their web site) that I've been there. Or, at least, I've been to services at Hebrew College that seemed to consist mostly of faculty and rabbinic students (and, on Shabbat, their families). Is that the one, or is there a second congregation there?

Anyway, I have a list of local congregations (haven't plotted on a map yet), but just have names and affiliations so was looking for recommendations. Have you been to any of the ones you listed?

Err, maybe I shouldn't take over [livejournal.com profile] magid's journal with this. I'll send you email.

Thank you. I was away for Shabbat, so on someone else's schedule, not sleeping in my own bed... a nice Shabbat, but not quite as restorative as I would have liked. I hope you had an excellent Shabbat yourself.
