Walking commute, mostly
Jan. 26th, 2007 10:23 amI decided at the beginning of the year I should walk to work every day (that there isn't major weather). So far, I've walked every day, including this morning. I wore leggings, but I wish I owned silk long johns: this would've been the day for them (You know it's really cold when your nose sticks to itself as you breathe.). My legs got very cold, but my feet stayed reasonably warm, so I wasn't concerned, just, well, cold (one site says it's 5 F, -13 F with windchill).
Earlier this week there was a guy in baggy, low rider pants walking ahead of me on Berkeley Street, no one else around. He farted, then said "Shut up, asshole." I managed not to break out laughing.
This week I finally realized that if I walk to the Trader Joe's nearest work (smaller than the Cambridge one, and they only carry the extra lean ground turkey, but it's more in my way (though I do have to think about how much weight I'm willing to carry)), I can now hop a bus down Mass Ave. (either the 1 or the CT1), rather than T'ing in and out again. It's much faster, even in rush hour.
And a random entertaining link: fancy a dairy farmer in Wales?
