According to the FAQ, they used grayscale for the visible tab because if they used real color, it would be like looking at an undifferentiated planet-sized mass of butterscotch. (Not that that sounds so bad.)

I did zoom in all the way, hoping for some sort of easter egg (like the cheese image Google Moon had). Butterscotch never occurred to me.
