Had I but known (turkey)
Nov. 22nd, 2005 10:17 pmI discovered tonight that Trader Joe's this year has fresh Empire turkeys, $.50 less per pound than the frozen ones at the Butcherie. If only I'd known... getting a second turkey doesn't seem reasonable, but I would like to encourage them to stock them again next year. The guy at the checkout suggested I call the 800 number at the beginning of November to find out if they'll have them; hopefully typing this will help be a memory jog for next year.
Last farmer's market of the year today. Many kudos to the people who braved the cold rain all day to bring fresh apples, pears, and gorgeous arugula to me. (I managed to resist so many other vegetable options, surprisingly.)
And I have been well gifted today, with books about the tube (very neat; many thanks) and a new down-filled comforter (thanks, mom) (Now to get a cover for it. I'd love to walk in, find a blue cover, and walk out again (after paying, that is :-). Any recommendations for where to go?)
Bonus for Firefly fans: costumes to be auctioned, including Mal's brown coat, among many other things.

Date: 2005-11-23 12:01 pm (UTC)Maybe. Though most of the clothes other than The Brown Coat are extremely non-essential (dresses for one or two scenes, clothing for characters either tangential or now dead), so... you never know. (Plus, I noticed that the designer pointedly mentions that the brown coat definitely fits the Mal-actor :-).

Date: 2005-11-23 04:44 pm (UTC)Last year I found a dark blue flannel duvet cover in the Bed Bath and Beyond clearance section. It is serving me well now, with my cuddly blue/light blue snowflake prints on white background flannel sheets... (And with my beige and brown and light blue plaid flannel, too, come to think of it. I buy way too much bed linen)

Date: 2005-11-23 04:49 pm (UTC)I have some kind of coupon (somewhere...) for Bed Bath & Beyond; maybe there'll be time Friday to check it out.
(I don't buy lots of bedding, but seem to have plenty, probably because I'm still using the sheets I swiped from my parents when I moved. Oh, and I have a definite bias towards blue for bedding; your blue snowflakes sound pretty.)
Chairs? Y/N?
