Farm share, week 16

There was an article in today's NYTimes about kugels, and along with the more formal ones (one for Yerushalmi kugel, something I've never yet attempted, partly due to fear: a friend gave herself a nasty burn on the caramel once.), there was a description of one that sounded most excellent, a noodle kugel with duck eggs, farmer cheese, and sour cherries. After looking at a guide to farmstands and such, it looks like I can get duck eggs if I'd like, and farmer cheese (and noodles) are easy, but this year I didn't get any sour cherries. I wonder if using cranberries with a bit of sugar would work.

Bonus sandwich track: today I made the best sandwiches I've accomplished in a long, long time: When Pigs Fly six-grain-and-pumpkinseed bread, a thin layer of humus, slices of turkey shwarma (from the bone-in turkey thigh that had been shwarama'd, gotten at the Butcherie), slices of farm tomatoes, and leaves of lettuces of diverse sorts.
