Wednesday's lunch with Gnomi and Mabfan was at the Post Office Square Milk Street Cafe location. (Hm. That sentence looks wrong. We went to the Milk Street Cafe, but not the one on the street of the same name*, but the Post Office Square location instead.) The odd part about it is that it has both milchigs and fleishigs. Inside the kiosk, there are cold meat sandwiches, already wrapped, sent over from their catering location, I believe, plus a lot of their usual milchig menu. Outside, there are two fleishig carts that make sandwiches, including a couple of hot ones. I'm still a bit surprised that the Vaad certifies them; they have been known to be very conservative (lower-case c, definitely) at times. Anyway. It was a good lunch, especially because of the company.
* I'm assuming that if I'm referring to the thing with the name first, "eponymous" isn't correct. But I wanted to use it anyway. So here it is.
Wednesday's serendipity was running into ZZBottom at Harvest, with time to chat a while, which was of course good, even had there not been a very nice compliment tossed in. (Thank you!)
Thursday's serendipity was the WBOS-sponsored concert at Copley, still going on after a rather boring visit to the gym (but I went, which is better than not). The John Butler Trio was playing, and I was impressed with their guitar work. I might look into going to their concert at the Somerville Theatre October 2, at the end of their tour.
Queue forwarded me a link to a Craigslist ad for my old job and the step up from that. The higher-level job required 5 years in the industry; this for the promotion they wouldn't give me after 11 years of experience (no bitterness here, whatsoever). How satisfying it was to find two typos in the ad.
I wonder when Teddywolf's and Tigerbright's baby will get his own LJ :-).
I'm in the top 5 in Boston. Whee!
I couldn't think of anything I particularly wanted to cook last night, so I didn't (dinner was previously-sauteed eggplant and onion, much yellow watermelon, and two squares of very dark chocolate). I'm not very much interested in cooking, for some reason; I need inspiration, something that will be exciting to make. Perhaps related: I now know it's much easier to peel watermelon rind before it's boiled. Sigh. It's taking ages to peel the rind to make the pickles/chutney. Frustrating.
On the plus side, my apartment is cleaner. The desk-cleaning was cathartic, almost enough for me to take a day off and get more done around the house.
Some free museums in Boston.
Plus, the Photographic Resource Center at BU is free every Thursday and the last weekend of the month ($3 at other times).
