Vegetable inundation
Jun. 22nd, 2005 05:21 pmI'd forgotten to change my order, so this week I got a big box of vegetables from Boston Organics. To wit:
I think I'm going to change to a smaller box, and partly fruit.
I also had the farm share pickup.
So far, very nice with the farm share.
- two bunches of green chard
- two heads of (partly-)red leaf lettuce
- two leeks
- eight ounces of button mushrooms
- a large eggplant
- a small head of cauliflower
- a bunch of spinach
- two tomatoes
- a grapefruit (?)
I think I'm going to change to a smaller box, and partly fruit.
I also had the farm share pickup.
- a bunch of carrots
- a pint of gorgeous little strawberries (and the right to pick eight pints more; I might drive out this weekend or next. Plus I'd get to pick some sugar snap peas, too.)
- [two heads of lettuce; I decided to leave them, since I knew I already had so much lettuce. There's only so much one can do with it, after all.]
- three stalks of broccoli [or a bunch of turnips, or a bunch of radishes, or a head of odd cabbage that looked a bit like an ear of corn, or something else I'm forgetting now]
- a couple of garlic scapes
- three pounds of greens (collards, green chard, bright lights chard, spinach, a variety of kinds of kale; I took less, knowing I had more chard at home. And I suspect I'll end up sauteeing a lot of stuff and freezing it.)
So far, very nice with the farm share.

Date: 2005-06-22 03:50 pm (UTC)Next week is easier, since it's just the farm share, but I suppose I will have to reconsider Boston Organics during the summer if I can't cope...
