For reference in future years (I thought I'd done this already).

milchig
  • frying pan
  • spatula
  • all pastel plastic silverware
  • plastic cutting board (used under the electric burner)
  • blue scrubbie

fleishig
  • 2-quart pot (really little)
  • 6-inch chef knife used for carving
  • all jewel-tone plastic silverware
  • metal serving spoon
  • two seder plates
  • eight pyrex custard cups (for the seder plate)
  • red scrubbie

pareve
  • little ceramic bowl (for salt water, or other small things)
  • a matza plate
  • a big ceramic kiddush/Elijah's cup, with matching plate
  • big blue glass bowl
  • two smaller plastic bowls
  • 8-inch chef's knife
  • two white plastic serving spoons
  • green harder plastic stirrer/serving spoon
  • three white flexible plastic cutting 'boards'
  • three cookie sheets (for roasting veggies)
  • plastic 1-cup measuring cup
  • can opener
  • corkscrew
  • blue non-stick pot
  • yellow plastic scrubbie
  • four hotplate things (ok, I'm blanking on the right word; fabric squares to pull things out of the oven with, and put hot pots on)
  • partial box of quart-sized ziploc equivalents
  • partial box of gallon-sized ziploc equivalents
  • some blue plastic bowls (might need to get more depending on next year's menus)
  • many clear plastic plates (remember to get a color next time)

And it seems the brand new vegetable peeler has gone AWOL, somehow. No clue. So I need to get a new vegetable peeler again next year. Frustrating, since I did this year. Other than that, though, I think I'm set. Remember, if making a turkey, get a foil roasting pan. Also, having the freezer is a good thing for not having to restock on proteins partway through, which also makes it easier to sell the contents of the car, if necessary. I will need to get more plastic table and counter liners; I have only the one octagonal one I didn't need this year. Remember that Market Basket and Target are unlikely to have anything, so try Paper and Provisions when stocking up on foil pans. [ETA or somewhere else, since now the only locations of Paper and Provisions will be in Worcester and Taunton.]

food (second half liable to change)
  • salt
  • ground black pepper
  • ginger powder
  • cayenne powder
  • ground cinnamon

  • two large cans crushed tomatoes
  • can of fried eggplant in tomato
  • 3-ounce can of tuna

Notes: I did fine without butter or margarine. One kind of jam is sufficient if it's just me, but consider getting a second if there will be much guestage. Also, consider guests' food restrictions while deciding what to buy. Four kinds of cheese is a bit more than I need. Getting fresh fish in advance and freezing it would be a good thing. If not making charoset, walnuts are unlikely to be used, while slivered almonds are more useful.

The right word, which you've probably recalled by now, is "potholder."

Thanks.

I gave up thinking about it, actually, having gotten to the point where poking my brain wouldn't help retrieve the word, and other morning things distracted from it just popping to mind.

You have a lot more Pesach-ware than we do..

I've been getting new stuff every year... and for the last two years, I ran a seder, which forced me to get a bit more stuff, too.

(Plus, I tend not to go away for any of chag.)
