Geckos!

I want to have a yard, just so I can make a patio of geckos. They're very cute. And it's excellent that the descriptiors includ surface area, thickness, and volume (just in case you can't multiply and do the unit conversion). Plus they give the weight, so it's easy to calculate the specific of concrete.

The frog one isn't nearly so nice.
"Hexacon Concentrex" sounds like it wants to be a drug.
And "Hexacon Interplexus" is one of the unknown muscles of the body.
I wonder if there's a con named Hexacon?

OK, so I still want to write a word problem.
a. The surface area of a gecko paving stone is 0.66 ft2. The thickness is 2.5 inches. What is the volume of the paver, in cubic feet?
b. The paving stone weighs about 20 pounds. About how much does a cubic foot of concrete weight?

The sound a gecko hears back when yelling in a cavern: gecho

I'd help make them, if you get a mold :-)

Cool! We're actually thinking of getting a hole cut in the back of our house for some stairs to a patio. I'll remember your message when we need it :)

Ceo (below) might use them, too; maybe you could go in on the molds...

... YEKK is for Yekko
Who howl in an underground grotto in Gekko.
The Yekkos love echoes, and this is their motto:
"For best Yekko echoes, try Gekko, our grotto!"

Oooh!

I'd not read On Beyond Zebra before! Thank you!

I particularly like
Like QUAN is for Quandary, who lives on a shelf
In a hole in the ocean alone by himself
And he worries, each day, from the dawn's early light
And he worries, just worries, far into the night.
He just stands there and worries. He simply can't stop...
Is his top-side his bottom? Or bottom-side top?

You should find an actual copy with the illustrations for the full effect.

Next time I'm at the library, I should check it out.

You could always pave the deck :) Or perhaps convince the rest of the condo people to use those to re-cover the stairs and common hall?

Decorative geckos climbing up the porch walls :-).

And I'm sure the condo people would luuuurve geckos in the hall.
(Right now, the plan is industrial carpet for the stairs, and some kind of composite for the floors. Apparently whoever got the last round of carpeting didn't get industrial strength.)

I want one! I want four! I luuuuurve geckos! I even have an authentic hawaiian gecko cookie cutter! And a gecko beanie baby! Except it's not a beanie baby, it's just that it's similar.

Need a patio?

And I just have to ask: do the gecko cookies tessellate?

And, sadly, they do not.

a. 237.6 in2.
b. 145.46 pounds.

We've been kicking around the idea of putting in a patio in the part of our back yard where the sun don't shine. I've already pinged the house mailing list about these. :-)

Yay for geeks!

It sounds like Ruthling might also be interested; maybe you'd like to go in on them?

What about geckos for kitchen tile?

Nice thought. Not with these molds, but.... hmmm... I wonder...
Not really sure if I want to go to the bother of replacing the current tiles, though. OK, rather sure that if I do, it's really low priority compared to a ton of other house things.

But it would be pretty.

So cool! If I end up somewhere where I could use them, I will. I agree that sadly, the frogs arent' nearly so nice. I've seen frog designs of that sort, too, so they could have done better. The poor froggie looks sort of crucified...

Yup. Not nearly as froggy as the geckos are geckoish. And they look rather pained, to boot.

Indeed. I feel for them.
